The papers are SU!'s DSP in not quite navy with a strip of mustard cs, the pooch (Sam) is colored with Prisma marker! I used SU's window punch for the two little accent pieces and added some vintage brads. The sentiment is from SU congratulations set. How's this for a masculine retirement card?

Anyone interested should leave a comment on this post with a link to your entry. Remember we're interested in boys/mens cards. If you don't have a blog you can email me on dtcall@donnasden.co.uk. The closing date for entries is Friday 30th October 2009.

A Flowery Get Well

Hello & happy Thursday! We are having a gorgeous day here in PA today...sun is shining, temps are reaching towards the 60's and there is a lovely backdrop is beautifully colored trees!!!! We'll be headed outside this afternoon to 'clean up' the yard for winter! My laundry is hanging on the line in the sunshine...I love that! But before I head out, I have a card to show you!

This is an encouragement/get well card. I like to carry one with me for those times I have an opportunity to pray for someone I meet 'along the way'!
I've used these gorgeous Fred, She Said digital flowers to adorn a scripture verse...pretty clean & simple, but I think quite effective!

These flowers come in sheets with varying colors & sizes...for one low price! So if you are just starting to work with digis, you'll want to checkout all the print & cut sheets @ the Fred, She Said Store!!!

Penguins at The Palace!

Happy Wednesday! Today is Release day at Doodle Palace...yay! I was so excited when we rec'd the new images this week...they are all so adorable!!!! Here's the first one I have to show you...a sledding penguin!

I popped the front of the sled and the sentiment is CG. Here's a little tip on the layered sentiment. I used my circle punches but wanted a layer in between so I punched two smaller circles and used one as a 'mask', drew my black circle in marker, removed the mask and placed the sentiment circle! Easy peasy!!!
I wanted to use snow, so I tried making my own according to Holly Young of Hog Wild about Stamping! I was so pleased with the result!!!!! It's similar to polar white Flower Soft, but you easily make it yourself for pennies!!!! Checkout her tutorial HERE!

...I used yellow! Yo-yo yellow! I don't know about you but I would have named this cardstock color, 'Wow, that's really bright yellow'!....guess that's why Stampin' Up! didn't ask me!!!

The text is CG and from one of my favorite praise songs (see below)! I love praise service at our church, especially when the whole congregation starts dancing and be-bopping to one of the songs....there's clapping, arms waving in the air, flags/banners flowing and dancing, a wonderful way to celebrate the Lord!!! So when I saw these cute little critters (a FREEbie from Squigglefly), I thought they looked awful happy and were possibly even singing and praising...see the snails little arms are raised!

I used the popping pastels technique to color both shells. Simply versamark the area of your choice and use your pastels. You can really see the difference from the rest of the pastel coloring! Thanks Ann, I haven't popped a pastel in a long time!

Here are the challenges...
Squigglefly SNR color chall~use yellow, SF image and pop something (flowers, turtle)
GCA~popped pastels.
Stampin'Sisters in Christ~show how the earth rejoices.
Scrap & Stamp~quote.
Color Combos Galore~dk green, green, yellow, white.
Card Patterns~sketch, though I veered.
Charisma Cardz~a recipe.

Don't forget, the next Squigglefly Digi Day is coming up on Sat., Oct 17th over @ Card Universe to celebrate the new releases! we always have so much fun!
Hope your having a great week....the weekend is just about here! yay! Abundant Blessings!!!

Doodle Palace New Release Day!

Happy Wednesday! Today is new release day at the Doodle Palace....every Wednesday Robin & Dee show us their awesome talent with new images!!! I had so much fun creating two very different cards for this release!!
This first one uses the DP mushroom....I just fell in love with this mushroom......I know, it's an inanimate object and it can't love me back.....and yet......

...I just think there's something about a polka dotted mushroom! lol I used prisma markers and the sentiment is hand written! I scored a border line on either side of the narrow ribbon...can you see it?

Another new image being released today is this sweet DP fairy! I thought she would be lovely on a girly girl card so I went this these sparkly K&co papers! The sketch is from Cutie-Stampers challenge blog! I used copics, prismas and SU! markers and diamond dusted her wings....don't you just love winged things!!!!
Pop over to the Palace and checkout all the new releases along with the inspiration from the rest of the Palace Princesses!!!! Everyone did a smashing job!

While you're over there make sure you grab the newest DP FREEbie and play along in the Doodle Palace Tuesday challenge. Our hostess this week is Sheryl and she has come up with a wonderful challenge...
Please create a THANK YOU card using a ribbon and Sheryl's Plastic Wrap Texture Technique! Challenge Runs 10/06/09 - 10/12/09! You can enter as many times as you would like for a chance to win free digital images!!!

I hope you have the opportunity to play along!

Praying peace, joy and much love over each and every one of you!!! Blessings!!!

Sing a Song

Happy happy Tuesday everyone! Woohoo, it's another day alive on planet earth...are you excited??? Well, my sparkle has returned, can ya tell? lol It's also time for another Digital Tuesday Challenge! Our lovely hostess this week is Shelly and she chose a really fun challenge....

..."Music to my Ears"~anything music related!
Quote is CG, DP is K&co, charm-blue moon and flourish bird, Little Yellow Bicycle in not-quite-navy.
Well, having to make my card while I wasn't sparkling the other day almost sent me over the cardmaking edge! Nothing was going right, my mind was blank, my ribbon too short, yadda, yadda, yadda...so here is my very simplistic card! I could have done so much more with this music theme, thankfully we have an awesome DT so there is no lack of inspiration for this challenge!
I hope you have the opportunity to play along with us....our fabulous sponsor this week is The Little Yellow Company and you could win some wonderful digis!!!!

Here are the challenges:
Digital Tuesday chall~music theme.
Theme Thursday~wings.
Verona's Sat chall~create something that calms you.
Scrap & Stamp~quote.
Sketch & Stash~sketch (charm)
Paper Minutes~birds.
Tanda Teaser~text.
Dutch Dare~charms

Squigglefly Butterfly Fairy

Happy Monday! Are you ready to start the week off with a challenge? Today's Squigglefly Challenge is to create a project in pink & blue using any Squigglefly image! (Freebies available on store site) I chose this pretty Butterfly Fairy and made another CAS...clean and simple card!....with extra sparkle!

This is super sparkly K&co DP and her wings are glam-ed up with clear and royal blue glitter. I used watercoloring, copics and prisma markers to color and highlight.

Squigglefly is counting down the days...
Oct. 17 - Digi Day on SNR Group
Oct. 17 - Another huge image release! I'm so excited!!!!

Here are the challenges...
Squigglefly~pink, blue, SF image.
Theme Thurs.~wings.
Flutterby Wed.~sapphire/flutter.
Craft Catz~butterflies.
Cutie Sunday~sketch
Sunflowers & Dragonflies~sparkle and shine.
Creative Card Crew~all that sparkles.

I think that's everything...my head is feeling less than sparkly as I'm typing this post (on Sunday)! Maybe I'll grab a nap and see if I can't find my glitter & shine when I awake! lol

Have a lovely Monday.....Be Blessed!

This next idea is from Stampin' Up...using their oval punches!
A fun little pair of eyes....think of all the fun you could have with these!
