Caroling Birds

Yay!  It's the official start of Christmas in the Matter household!   It's after Thanksgiving, so I can start piping Christmas music throughout the house!  My DH thinks all the hub-bub of the Holiday starts too early, so he makes us wait until Thanksgiving is over...at least!   Though I have been playing it when he's not here!  lol  I needed to get in the Christmas mood to make cards, right?   lol    Oh well, now there's music everywhere!

When I saw this new digi accessory set @ Doodle Pantry....I knew it would be perfect!!

I used Doodle Pantry's Shaggy Cat digi and added a Santa hat, Ho- sentiment, a tall gift & a square gift!  Used the Gimp editing program that I downloaded for free.  easy peasy!

Creative Card Crew - Treat box/bag

Here's a little treat box I made for the Creative Card Crew challenge this fortnight.  I was having a mojo leak and was drawing a total blank on this project!  Then I found this little tutorial and thought I'd give it a go.  As far as technique, it went well, just not happy with the papers/design.  I'll give it some more thought and have another go at it later!

The papers and snowman die are Cosmo Cricket products, the ribbon is American Crafts and I used a Nestie scallop square for the box.   All these company products are carried by our lovely sponsor Simon Says Stamps.com.  and, of course, soooo much more!

TGIF!  Today the Fred She Said ladies are showing off some of Tracey's latest images!  Perfect for the upcoming season! 

I used the pre-colored wreath, a layer of red cardstock and pretty organza ribbon!  BAM!  A lovely Christmas card!   This is going to make an easy mass production holiday card!

I'm thinking...I can tie bows while I'm watching TV and have a basket of them done in one night.  Simplicity at its best!

Well, we made our first pumpkin pies last night!  yummo!  My 12 y.o. son has really been into cooking/baking with me, which totally inspires me to be in the kitchen!   He's my baby and he's following in his older siblings footsteps!  They all knew how to cook the basics & a few of their favorite foods by 13!   Soon I won't be needed in the kitchen at all!  lol (I can dream, can't I?!)  Ok, I'm off to have another piece of pie!

***On the homefront***
After being asleep for most of Monday, I'm working hard to get back on track with the household chores!  The woodstove is not going today, so I should be fine!  lol  We did our 'conquer' the grocery store this morning and I just finished my routine food sorting and preparing!  We have not had meatloaf (made w/hamburger) in a zillion years. Then someone mentioned it the other day and put the thought in my head!  So I put it in the menu for this week.  Since we won't have it until the end of the week, I mixed it up and shaped it to fit perfectly into my loaf pans; wrapped it and popped it in the freezer until I'm ready for it!  easy peasy!  Tonight I'm just throwing some egg noodles into my beef stew to 'stretch' it a bit further.  Another easy dish and everyone in the house eats it!  ha

Anywhoo, that's all for now, off to finish making dinner!  Spaghetti night...my eldest son wanted to learn how to make meatballs, so we made those this afternoon.  I have bread baking in the bread machine and I need to make some more cupcakes...we still have some of that spray frosting from the other day and the kids want to play!  lol I plan on sitting on my butt tonight and watching The Mentalist, haven't been able to catch it yet for the new season!

***on the homefront***
Yesterday was grocery shopping day! yay!  Love bringing all that fresh new food in the house!  When we shop, we 'conquer' the store, we split up and get everything on the list and finish in less than an hour!  At home, we sort, divide and cook whatever food we can...and we're all set for the week!  Since the day is usually busy we have taco night, that's pretty easy to pull together!  And I make a homemade dessert!  The kids wanted to try spray frosting (its in a whip cream type of can), so we made cupcakes, and had a bit of fun squirting the frosting on!  lol   awww, making memories!   I am truly blessed with four wonderful kids, three teens & a preteen.  how cool is that?!!!
And now that the meals are organized, I can spend more time crafting!  ....my ultimate goal of course!  lol
