Chicks & Deviled Eggs

Good Monday Morning!

Hope you had a great weekend!  I did not craft one tinsy bit this past weekend...the weather was beautiful and we enjoyed every minute of it!  Too soon will come the days of hiding in the air conditioning!  We did hit a few yard sales.  I found some fun things to alter & a few crafting goodies!

I'm declaring this week BIRD week on Joyful Stamper, yep, I noticed the posts I have schedule for the week all contain some sort of feathered creature!  bet you're excited now, huh?

Let's start off with this little cutie...

Stamps: Doodle Pantry (baby chick set) digi
sentiment- Doodle Pantry (birdie babies set)digi
Papers: SU! cs, Doodle Pantry digi paper (watermelon lunch set)
Other: Nesties, doily, twill ribbon, button/floss.

I thought this little chick was darling for a baby card!  This card came together is no time with the pre-colored image & digital paper.  So many of Laurie's set now include the pre-colored images along with the outlined images....and coordinating digi paper.  Love that!!!!    I only print out the size of paper I need, so no scraps & no storing paper!

Did you all see the new Doodle Pantry Releases this past weekend?   too fun!  If you missed them pop over to the DP shop & check 'em out, along with some awesome special's they're offering!

Congratulations to the DP Blog Parade winners...

We have raised many chicks over the years.  Egg lovers, we are!  We even had Araucana chickens, the ones that lay the aqua eggs, the kids loved that!!!

Here's a twist on a 'deviled' egg recipe!

Shrimp & Olive Stuffed Eggs

The filling is nice and smooth, but I would recommend not to overmix it, as you do want to get the sense of the ingredients as separate from each other. It's nice to get a little bit of shrimp in a biteful; if you overmix the shrimp, or overmix the egg, it will all seem just a little too uniform and you will miss the pleasure of individual flavors.
Be sure to keep these well-chilled especially in the summer; with the combo of seafood and egg, spoilage wouldn't take long. Enjoy!

6 hard-cooked eggs, peeled and cut lengthwise
4 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 teaspoon dijon mustard (spicy even, if you feel daring)
¼ cup mashed cocktail shrimp (rinse and drain very well before mashing)
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, minced fine (reserve a little if you want to use as garnish)
1/2 tsp lemon juice
Salt & pepper to taste
Garnish: black olives, sliced - reserve some cocktail shrimp from the can as well for a great look.

  • Pop out (remove) the egg yolks to a small bowl and mash with a fork.
  • Add mayonnaise, dijon mustard, lemon juice, salt and pepper and mix well.
  • Add mashed cocktail shrimp and mix thoroughly (but do not mash further).
  • Fill the empty egg whites with the mixture
  • garnish with a gorgeous cocktail shrimp & a black olive slice.

Serve chilled or store covered in refrigerator for up to one day before serving.

Have a happy day!
Blessings!

Hi Maria, your little chick card is just darling, I would never have thought to use this image for a baby card but its just perfect! oh you have chickens! Lucky you. I think I must have been a farmer in a past life as I dream of having a farm and loads of animals, unfortunately I don't have any land, so my sheep will just have to wait and for now I just go and visit them, one day Maria, you wait and see, I will be a farmer! lol. Enjoy the rest of your day. hugs Donna x

Love this cutie Maria!! Perfect sentiment and colors too. That would be so fun to have some chickens -- my girls and I have wanted them for years. And to have the aqua-laying ones--too cool! Funny... I just made deviled eggs yesterday! Coinkadink! *Ü* Have a tweet week!
