Creative Card Crew - fantasy

Happy Wednesday!

Well, we had some snow yesterday, about 3 inches and the temps never rose above freezing!  I guess winter want us to know he's still here!  

This card is another result of my printer software malfunction the other night!  I haven't tried editing anything else yet, the frustration is still too fresh!  lol

I used some scraps of ATD paper, MS border punch with vintage text, American Crafts rick rack, vintage seam binding and pink Bella em-Bella-shment.  I cut a 'primative' star shape from heavy cardstock and pierced/distressed it with Shimmerz paint. (letting it harden & cracking it)

Well, it certainly is a happier day today than yesterday!  oy!  Everything seemed to go wrong yesterday with my 'puter while trying to print some digis!  As much as I love this image, it was not the intended one for today!  My editing program was being very finicky and my laptop was overheating then froze up....I won't even continue, I can feel my blood starting to boil again!  lol

I 'modeled' my coloring after one of our late chickens, Witchy-poo, she out-lived all the other hens and became a favorite with the kids!  She was an old bird w/ wild feathers and a little bald spot from a close encounter of the canine kind but what a sweet hearted chicken! lol

I have a masculine card to show you today!  Though it would certainly work well as a sympathy card too!

Long ago, maybe 2008 or 2009 I won a pile of rubber from Artful Inkables, love their stuff, but somehow it was all pushed to the side and I just recently found it again when I resolved to use my stash this year!

Keeping that in mind, this stamp was a perfect fit for both the Creative Belli challenge which always encourages us to use up our stash  AND our Design DIVA Blog Hop's theme "Oldies but Goodies" using stamps at least 6 months old!  Isn't this a wonderful 'find'?!

This week at the Creative Belli challenge we are using felt or fabric on our creations!  This could be a felt flower, trim or maybe a little pieced dress for your image!  No felt? then use whatever fabric you can find...I tore apart a linen dishtowel a while back and am still using pieces from it on my creations!   I am quite lacking in the felt department so I used some cotton duck fabric which, of course, reminded me of the beach!

(in a nutshell)
I saw a fun card over at Hero Arts blog and it totally inspired me!  I started working on my idea at once, then realized I needed to get some DT cards done.  "Yikes, what are you doing Maria, playing with this design when you have work to do?"  haha  So I pushed this beauty aside and set to work only to find out later that I totally flubbed my one DT card, forgetting to use the proper elements to the challenge.  Eek, what to do, what to do!   Then I remember this card, plucked off the crocheted flower and use my nesties to make the layered flower.   There's more to this story but you get the picture!   oy!

I had made this card for a DT challenge this week and I forgot to add the needed elements, then I noticed I attached the script vellum upside down AND backwards, so I thought I would share it with you today!  haha  Stuff Happens!

I did have fun making it though and getting iridescent glitter everywhere! haha   Each of the kiddos has an assigned room/area in the house to clean.  My oldest son has the pleasure of cleaning around my craft area, he comments that we must be the only family in the world to have glittery dust bunnies....somehow I don't believe that to be true!  Would you agree???  lol

It's a wonderful day in the neighborhood, the temps are rising and the friendly stray cat has shown up once again at my door.   My mother gave us some cat food, so we now have a little bowl for him.  He certainly is a sweetheart and I find it hard to believe he's never been an indoor cat.   The children take turns loving on him, then he falls asleep on the rocking chair beside the woodstove.  He's quite content there too!  By late afternoon he meows to go out and off he goes!     I think we now have a cat!

Hello, hope you're enjoying your day!

Freezing temps today, but our home is nice & cozy and the sun is shining!  My youngest son & I had a baking day of sorts!

Here is something we made today, a batch of French Breakfast Puffs.  Quite easy and everyone enjoyed them.  We lightly dusted ours with cinnamon & sugar since not everyone likes cinnamon in our house.  But I have seen them dipped in butter and covered with cinnamon & sugar!

1/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1    egg
beat until smooth.

combine...
1-1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1-1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2    teaspoon salt
1/4    teaspoon ground nutmeg

...add to the sugar mixture alternately with 1/2 cup of milk.
Fill muffin cups two-thirds full.
Bake @ 350 degrees for 20 minutes!
makes 1 dozen.

After a very productive morning with the children, I sat down to make a quick card.   I needed a sympathy card unfortunately.

Isn't this the sweetest image??  This is my all time favorite stamp from Paper Pretties, it comes as a clear stamp & a digital image!

I decided to go all girly-girly on this one.  I nestled the Nestie labels to make a 'frame' for this little cutie, I like how it turned out, especially with all the glitter!  Glitter makes everything better, right?!

Creative Belli - Jewelry

Happy Wednesday!

It's been two weeks already and it's time for another fun Creative Belli challenge!  This time our theme is Jewelry...interpret as you please!

I used a vintage clip-on earring I had found at a flea market this past summer!

The Belli challenges are always so much fun for me.  I'm trying to let my creativity go, haha, though I'm not quite sure I like giving it free range!  

I have a ton of lace, hardly ever touched.  So in keeping with my resolution to use up my stash, I'll be digging into the 'lace box' a bit more in the coming days!

It's a gray day...literally, here in PA and @ Digital Tuesday!  Our lovely hostess this week, Sharon, has challenged us to use shades of gray and one accent color!
