Ahhh, Vacationing in the old Country!

Good Monday Morning!

I wanted to tell you about two challenges going live today.
Paper Playtime - Vacation theme - various sponsors!
Lollipop Crafts - Recycled theme!

This is my last project as GDT for Lollipop Crafts.  I've enjoyed working with these lovely ladies; a special thanks to DT member Alanna for coordinating all the details for me!!

Stamps: Doodle Pantry (Old Italian Street set) digi,
background stamps - Recollections, TPC Studio
Paper: scraps
Ink: SU! ink pads
Other: linen dishtowel, lace, floss,
 Zva Creative pearls.

My vacation card depicts my dream vacation destination...Italy!  The motherland!!

I was having a bit of fun distressing my card, maybe a little too much!  The Italian village digi image was water-colored, cut out & attached.  My flower was created using a strip of linen, torn from a old stained linen dishtowel.

I hope you all can play along with us, be sure to pop over to the challenge blogs for some lovely inspiration and all the important details to enter!

Thank you for stopping by!  Enjoy this brand new week!
Blessings!

SNR magazine feature & FREE school printables!

Happy Wednesday!

Totally excited about this...I'm the Scrapbook News and Review magazine Featured Artist!

I feel honored to be included with such a talented group of crafters!!  Thank you SNR!!  And now I know why I've never sent in any of my creations for publication...I was seriously stressed out trying to think of a project worthy of the magazine!  Seriously!!!

Here's some of my featured article....

When thinking of a project to share, my thoughts went to the upcoming school year.  Teachers are such an important part of our children's lives and I know many of us try to help them in whatever way we can in providing an excellent educational experience for our children.  Therefore, I decided to create a card set for a teacher in my clean and simple style.

This set consists of four cards in a simple card-wrap holder tied with twine, using cardstock, design paper, die-cuts and stamps.

I specifically created this set for a teacher to have thank you cards available to send out when needed. However, you can easily see the versatility of this set by simply changing the stamped sentiment.

The children can even help in the mass production process, depending on their age!  These are standard size card bases in Kraft cardstock with one layer of solid cardstock and one of designer paper.  The die-cut can be whatever shape is appropriate to your theme.  Apples and teachers seem to go together!
The wrap is just that, cardstock wrapped around the set of cards. From a 12x12 inch piece of cardstock, cut a stripe 5.75 inches wide. Score at 4.50, 4.75, 9.50 & 9.75 inches.  You can add a decorative edge on your flap if you like.  I've added a button to the twine for interest; it isn’t attached to the card-wrap.
Stamps: SU! stamps
sentiment - Verve stamps
Paper: SU! kraft cs, BasicGrey dp
Ink: Memento black, SU! Classic pads
Other: button, twine,
piercing tool for faux stitching,
Cricut (Plantin Schoolbook-apple)
And that's it!  Hope you like it!!!

Are you creating back to school projects too?   I would enjoy seeing them, be sure to share them @ my linky party, Inspire Me Fridays!

And to keep the school spirit going, here are some fun FREE PRINTABLES to check out!

Post-it note holder, gone country!

Happy Tuesday!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!  We did a lot of fun running around this past wknd but it all concluded with some relaxing downtime Sunday evening while I watched the Chargers vs.Cowboys (NFL football)!!!  I know it's only pre-season but I'm totally thrilled...autumn can't be far away now!

There's a new Digital Tuesday Challenge posted today for your crafting pleasure!  Our lovely Karen has chosen a theme of cute & girly!  I hope you have a chance to play along, our sponsor this week is Phindy's Place!

Post-It Note holder

Stamps: Doodle Pantry digi (Quirky cat set)
Paper: digi paper from Activity Village FREEbie
Ink: PrismaColor markers
Other: buttons, twine, Zva Creative gems.

As most of you know, I'm a country girl...love primitive country decorating!  So when I was working with this cute but Quirky Cat, I decided to go country!

I was inspired by this cat & gingham towel on the top left!

Post-it holders are such an easy make, I'm using this for a little Christmas gift!  I soooo want to be organized & ready for the holidays this year!

If you've never made one, the holder is pretty much designed like a matchbook cover.  The dimensions will vary depending on your Post-It notes.  I buy a regular 3"x3" pad extra thick/high and divide it in half (pull it away)!
  1. cut a strip of cardstock 8 1/4 in x 3 1/2 in
  2. score @ 3/4", 1", 4 1/2", 4 3/4"
  3. layer with design paper & embellish!
  4. attach Post-It notepad
My flap tucks neatly under the bottom of the kitty image...her paws!

I can't wait to show you all the crafty stuff I've been working on...it's amazing how much you can accomplish when you don't spend hours on the computer!!!  lol

Have you checked out all the fabulous inspiration from the Inspire Me Fridays linky party?  I love seeing so many different crafts!  Thank you to all who share their talents with us!

Enjoy your day!

Down on the Farm & a bit of Homeschooling fun!

Happy Tuesday!

Cluck, cluck, cluck...we're having fun down on the farm today!  It's time for a new Digital Tuesday Challenge & our fabulous leader Ellie has chosen a farm theme!

I love Laurie's Doodle Pantry chicken set with wire fence and all....

Stamps: Doodle Pantry (Chicken set) digi,
background stamp -Inkadinkado (fall season)
Paper: Brazzill textured cs, K&Co dp, BasicGrey dp
Ink: SU! classic pad
Other: vintage seam binding, button/floss,
CB emb.folder.

I had so much fun making this...cardmaking is such a great hobby!

Of course my craft table is a total wreck with papers, ribbons & embellies strewn all about....but just wait until you see the card I have to share tomorrow!  lol    maybe I'll take a pix!

*** on the homefront***
As some of you know, we already started our homeschooling for this year.  Most years, August is so hot that we hide in the air conditioning ...so we start school now & finish in April when the spring weather calls to us & it's hard to concentrate on staying inside!   So we are in our third week of school this week.

One of the fun things we're doing this year is "dissecting" our Bibles!   It's a great way for the kids to really become comfortable with the different books of the Bible.

The 10 Shortest books of the Bible...

  1. 3 John - 1 chapter, 14 verses
  2. 2 John - 1 chapter, 13 verses
  3. Philemon - 1 chapter, 25 verses
  4. Jude - 1 chapter, 25 verses
  5. Obadiah - 1 chapter, 21 verses
  6. Titus - 3 chapters, 46 verses
  7. 2 Thessalonians - 3 chapters, 47 verses
  8. Haggai - 2 chapters, 38 verses
  9. Nahum - 3 chapters, 47 verses
  10. Jonah - 4 chapters, 48 verses
Of course there was a bit of competition going on while compiling that list...but a lot of giggling too!

Praying peace, joy and much love over all who read here!
Blessings!

Good Monday Morning!

Hope your weekend was a good one!  My heart goes out to those in Indiana, the state fair stage collapse, my thoughts & prayers are with those affected.

I wanted to tell you about two challenges going live today.
Paper Playtime - anything goes sponsored by Whimsie Doodles! and
Lollipop Crafts - recipe (green/brown/ivory, 1 dp & handmade flower) sponsored by Robyn's Fetish.

I have a fun shabby chic card to share with you today.  I had a sketch in my 'smash book' for quite some time, and finally decided to use it!  I had jotted down  ippity blog so I'm guessing that's where I got it.

"Each day comes to me with both hands full of possibilities~Helen Keller"

Stamps: Stampendous, SU!(itty bitty)
Paper: SU! cs, BasicGrey dp, MemoryBox dp
Ink: Memento ink pad, SU! cocoa for sponging

Thanks a Melon! and a Joyful life!

Sunday Blessings!

Hope you're enjoying your weekend!  I just realized we are mid-way through August, amazing!  I haven't been around Blogland much in August, though you should NOT have noticed much with my posts going up like clockwork!  I love Blogger, when it's working properly!

I've been working like a mad woman, crafting my little heart out...but they're all for future posts!  lol  So the only thing I have to show you today is this little sliver of melon...isn't it cute?

Its a table favor for a picnic.   Do you ever have 'thank you' picnics/parties?  Gathering up all the people you want to thank for doing this or that....adding to your life in some way...I should have one every month!!!

Oooo, I think I just inspired myself!   lol

I used my recently posted fun technique to place my mini letters, easy peasy!

****on the homefront****

I've been catching up on my emails & have noticed a re-occurring statement/question, especially from other crafty homeschoolers, "how do you do it all?"   Let me erase that illusion completely from your mind!  I don't!

We live a crazy, "dysfunctional" life like everyone else I know! lol  We have the messy house, the late dinners, the kids attached to their video games/laptops, the piles of clutter, dishes & laundry...actually, my laundry is caught up today! yay!  I 'bark' at my kids to do their chores, pick up their clothes, finish their schoolwork, just like you do.  But I also know, there will never be enough hours in a day, so why worry the day away or stress out about it!   Yes, I know there are deadlines to meet, inside & outside the home, but I know the world will not come to an end if I mess up!  Each day is a new opportunity to 'get it right'!!!

I will say, if you have joy & peace in your heart, life it is a lot easier!  Our joy & peace come from knowing Jesus as our Lord & Savior!  He is a constant presence in everything we do.  There is a certain calmness that settles over you, when you know you are loved & cared for, that's the best way I can explain it.  You just know everything will be alright!

Stepping down from the podium now...but if you needed a word of encouragement today, go ahead & take it! {{hugs}}

I will try to share some specific time-saving tips & secrets in the days to come!

Thanks for stopping by today!
Praying peace, joy & much love over each of you!
Blessings!

a Tent Card tutorial, Clean & Simple!

.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I found a fun challenge while blog visiting..."Pop Up a Tent" card!  I can't believe I've never made a tent card before, so I thought I would give it a go!

Even included one of my "clean cut" tutorials!  {{grin}}

Stamps: SU! (warmest regards)
Paper: SU! cs
Ink: memento pad
Other: vintage seam binding, satin rosette,
Cricut  (Storybook, page 60, accent/frame)

Maria's 'Clean Cut' tutorial...how to make a tent card!

  • Simply make a card as you normally would, 4.25" x 5.50", vertical standing.
  • Cut a piece of (matching) cardstock 3" x 4.25".
  • Score at .75", 1.50", 2.25"  (3/4", 1 1/2", 2 1/4")
  • Fold accordion style...like the letter 'W'.
  • Attach folded cs to front & back flaps of card!

You get the idea!  Easy peasy, right?
This is a great style for displaying cards...which so many of us do with the lovely cards we receive!  The tent card challenge I found is from Erika @ Crafty Sprouts and she has a real video tutorial if you need detailed instructions!

Confession tip - I didn't have my Cricut blade positioned correctly for the scrap of black cardstork I was using and 'booger-ed' up my paper in the lower right-hand corner.  See it?  Nope!  After I tied my bow I put a ultra small dab of glue on the goof & allowed my ribbon to naturally drape over the glue, hiding the goof permanently!

Hope you enjoyed my card today, thanks so much for stopping by!
Blessings!
